We’re bringing the ever popular half marathon race distance to Hatfield Forest. Challenge yourself this September to a chip timed, scenic, almost flat run around the beautiful forest grounds. Run for a challenge, run to get fit, run with friends and family, or run for charity – come down and have a great Sunday morning experience. Everybody will receive a well earned t-shirt, medal, water and banana at the finish line.

The race will start at 10.00AM

We suggest arriving at least two hours prior to the race start to ensure you have time to put your belongings in the bag drop, use the toilets and familiarise yourself with the course and start/finish areas.

Discounted parking is available on the day. Parking is free for members and £2 for non-members.


Unfortunately, due to safety reasons, we cannot allow entrants to run with dogs, with exception to visually-impaired entrants.


Please be aware that the race will be run on trail paths. Your safety matters so make sure that you stay alert and pay extra attention to your footing, direction, cones, roots and any other potential hazards whilst at the event. Please familiarise yourself with the course route so that you are aware of where you will be running, prior to starting the race.

The race will take place inside Hatfield Forest, around a course through the forest grass trails. The course is mostly flat and on grass and trail. Download the course

We encourage all runners to help raise money for their favourite charities. Not only will you get the satisfaction of running a new personal best or completing your first race, you will also feel humbled for helping charities. Find our more in our fundraising section. Driving: From the west: From M11 exit 8 roundabout, take B1256 towards Takeley. From the east: From the A120, take the junction for Takeley. Once in Takeley, turn into the road opposite the Green Man pub (at the brown sign). Follow this straight road for 3/4 mile to the entrance car park which will be on your right. Discounted race parking charge of: £2.00. Sat Nav postcode is CM22 6NE

Bus: The closest bus stop is The Green Man, Takeley Street, on the northern border of Hatfield Forest. This can be reached by Arriva bus service 508 which runs from Harlow, via Bishops Stortford to Stansted Airport bus station. Walk through the Forest approximately 1.5 miles (2.1 km) to visitor facilities. The bus stop at the Four Ashes, Takeley is served by a wider range of buses. The Forest can then be reached by walking along the Flitch Way (about 1 mile (1.5 km)).

Taxi: Ask the driver to take you to Hatfield Forest, Takeley. If the driver requires the postcode then provide him/her with CM22 6NE.

Train: The nearest railway stations are Bishops Stortford (5 miles) and Stansted Airport station (3 miles). From there, take a bus, Arriva service 508, to The Green Man, Takeley Street.

Cycle: The Flitch Way (a disused railway track which is now a country park, National Route 16) runs from Braintree to Start Hill (near Bishop's Stortford). There are 2 entrances to Hatfield Forest off the Flitch Way, at the eastern and western ends, which bring you into the northern end of the Forest. You can leave your bike in the storage racks located in the main lakeside area.

Walk: Flitch Way footpath runs along nothern border of Hatfield Forest. Three Forests Way and Forest Way pass through Hatfield Forest.

They range from 5K to Half Marathon. Each event distance is clearly stated on each event page.
As long as we haven’t reached our maximum race entry quota then we will be accepting entries on the day. We will state whether entries are open on the day once online entries have closed.
In some of our races, yes. If available, more information will be detailed on each event page about the pacemakers in the race who will run at predetermined paces.
Yes, you can register as many entries as you require. Just choose the entry type and change the number of entries required before adding them to your cart. If you need to register both ‘affiliated’ and ‘unaffiliated’ entries, add your ‘affiliated’ entries to your cart then come back to the event page and add your ‘unaffiliated’ entries too.
We recommend arriving at least 90 minutes before the race start so that you have time to park, familiarise yourself with the race registration and Start/Finish areas, and warm up.
For afternoon/evening races you will be able to collect your race number on the day of the race, with an option for early collection throughout the day. For morning races we will send races numbers out in the post.
Where possible we will provide free parking for both runners and spectators. In locations where this is not possible we will provide information on paid parking facilities close by.
All race results will be posted on the website shortly after the race.
This will depend on the weather conditions. If the weather conditions are good then wearing lightweight clothing, such as shorts and a vest, will help you to stay ventilated during the race. If the weather conditions are cooler then we would recommend having an extra layer and maybe hat/gloves to stay warm.
Yes, we will always provide toilets for each race, either portable or fixed facilities at the venue.
Half marathon: Only persons aged 17 years or above on race day may register for the half marathon.
5K: Children 4 to 16 years on race day may register for the 5K if accompanied by an adult (aged 18 or over).
10K: Children 9 to 16 years on race day may register for the 10k if accompanied by an adult (aged 18 or over).

If you can’t see your confirmation in your inbox or spam folder then please send us an email to info@blitzrun.com and we will resend your confirmation.
We appreciate that plans can sometimes change, which may mean that you are no longer to make it to a race. Whilst we do not usually issue refunds, in exceptional circumstances where you can no longer attend a race, we will try to refund you all or part of your entry fees.
